Supperera Vitamin K2 Complex is free from soy and natto
It contains unique vitamin K2 MK-7 fermented from chickpeas and is guaranteed free of any solvents and harmful additives, which are often neither declared on the product itself nor made known to the consumer through analysis. This also applies to the MK-4 it contains.
For this reason, Suppera Vitamin K2 Complex is free from any allergens and has no allergy potential.
Please note that all supplements available on the market are generally made from natto or soy (even if nothing is explicitly stated on the label) and do not contain MK-4.
Natto (soy) can negatively affect thyroid function and hormone metabolism. Natto also contains large amounts of saponins, which bind with bile acids and thus interfere with fat digestion. Therefore, Supperera K2 Complex is soy/natto-free.
Vitamin K2 MK-7 - what is known:
(MK-7 differs from MK-4 in the following points):
1. Long half-life – MK-7 remains active in the blood for 48–72 hours, ideal for stable effects with only one dose per day.
2. Efficient activation of vitamin K-dependent proteins – especially osteocalcin (bone) and matrix Gla protein (vessels), which contributes to the deposition of calcium in bones and its removal from arteries.
3. Proven vascular protection – MK-7 has been shown to reduce arteriosclerosis (e.g., measured via pulse wave velocity in studies).
4. Better researched in cardiovascular diseases – many human studies show effects on vascular elasticity, high blood pressure and calcium metabolism.
5. Lower dosage required – effective even in the microgram range (e.g. 100–200 µg) due to high bioavailability and long duration of action.
6. Ideal for basic nutrition – covers the “systemic” K2 requirement, especially with normal calcium intake or in combination with vitamin D3.
7. Good research situation in Europe – especially in dietary supplements, MK-7 is more frequently studied and used than MK-4.
8. Low conversion losses – very well absorbed orally and hardly converted into other K2 forms.
What is known so far for the contained vitamin K2 MK-4 is:
(the following points differ in effect from MK-7):
1. Fast acting – MK-4 has a short half-life (~1–2 hours), which means it acts faster in tissue than MK-7.
2. Targeted tissue distribution – MK-4 preferentially accumulates in bones, arteries, liver, pancreas, brain, and testes/ovaries.
3. Active form in the cell – MK-4 is the form that the body produces itself from vitamin K1 or MK-7 when needed (→ bioactive cell form).
4. Cell Protection & Gene Expression – MK-4 directly influences certain genes, such as those relevant to cell protection and mitochondrial function.
5. Nervous system & brain – Only MK-4 is transported to the brain in relevant amounts – important for myelin protection, cognitive function and neuronal health.
6. Fertility & Hormone System – Studies show that MK-4 is involved in the production of sex hormones and influences fertility (especially in men).
7. Anti-inflammatory & cancer-modulating – In preclinical studies, MK-4 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative effects (e.g., in liver, lung, and prostate cancer cells).
8. Not dependent on intestinal flora – MK-4 is independent of intestinal bacterial activity, while MK-7 may be less well produced/metabolized if the flora is disturbed.
9. Proven in Asia – MK-4 has been used medically in Japan for decades in high doses to treat osteoporosis (e.g., 45 mg/day).
10. Safe when taken consistently under Marcumar/anticoagulation – MK-4 can be taken long-term, like MK-7, at a constant dosage, without negatively affecting blood clotting (please always consult your doctor).
If you are taking a blood thinner (e.g., warfarin), consult your doctor before taking it. Generally, it's advisable to take vitamin K2 and then adjust your blood thinner—not the other way around.
In practice, however, this is often not done – simply due to time constraints. In this case, we recommend that you seek a second opinion from a doctor who is familiar with vitamin K2.
